Former Chelsea star John Obi-Mikel asserted that Jamie Carragher can f*** off in response to the pundit's controversial remarks about the Africa Cup of Nations. Carragher has come under fire recently for articulating his belief that AFCON is not a significant tournament, igniting a fierce backlash.
On Sunday, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher expressed his thoughts about Mohamed Salah's position in the annual Ballon d'Or discussion. He noted that Salah may face challenges in the debate, particularly because he has not yet secured victory in a major international tournament, such as the Euros, Copa America, or the World Cup.

Carragher later elaborated on his perspective in an online post. However, his comments sparked a range of reactions, with popular figures like Daniel Sturridge, Micah Richards, and Rio Ferdinand sharing differing viewpoints. Mikel has also jumped into the controversy surrounding Carragher's remarks.

During an appearance on The Obi One Podcast, Mikel asserted that Carragher's remarks were not only disrespectful but also ironic coming from someone who has never achieved any major international success with England. He emphasized that Carragher's statement was incorrect and demanded that Carragher issue a substantial apology.
"It's so disrespectful what he said, and this is coming from someone who never won any major international competition with England. His is statement was absolutely wrong. I hope he will come out and make a massive apology because he owes people around the world an apology. [It was] ignorant to disrespect such a wonderful tournament," Mikel said.
Mikel asserted that Carragher does not understand what it takes to win the Premier League or to achieve success with a national team. He felt that Carragher had no right to undermine such a prestigious tournament.
"If you won the Euros with England I might understand that, if you won a major tournament with England I might understand that. You won f*** all with England. F*** all. And you try to discredit the tournament that I won, shed blood and tears for?" Mikel added.
Mikel is a former winner of the African Cup of Nations. He won it with Nigeria in 2013 besides being a runner on two other occasions.
