The Tale of the Fixture
The visitors were not given any piece of the pie right from the start. Fulham dominated the Red Devils in every aspect of the game- possession, shots, chances creation and key passes.
In a disappointing outing, Manchester United were able to create only one chance in the entirety of the first half from Bruno Fernandes.
Fulham dominated the game right from the start and looked like a better team. In the 45th minute, Fulham came close to scoring, but the whistle was called. Later in the 45th minute, a VAR review for Fulham was turned down.
As the second half progressed, Fulham seemed to lose their rhythm in the game. They struggled to maintain their earlier pace and hence provided an outside chance for Manchester United to get their hold back into the game.
Manchester United finally took the lead in the 78th minute.
Fernandes delivered a clever pass to the rancho, who turned Castagne inside out before attempting to locate Collyer at the edge of the area. Berge intervened to poke it away, but Lisandro Martinez swiftly intercepted Muniz to regain possession. He then unleashed a screamer from 25 yards, which took a deflection off Lukic, looping over Leno and finding the far corner of the net. Manchester United held onto their lead and won the match 1-0.
