Fernandes to move to Australia

Fernandes has indicated that he might consider a surprising move to Australia once his tenure at Manchester United concludes. The Portuguese, who is currently under contract until 2027, is now 31 years old. It remains uncertain whether he will receive an extension to his contract.

Fernandes shared with Optus Sport that after watching videos sent by Mata, which showcased the lifestyle in Australia featuring activities like playing golf, enjoying the beach, experiencing the stadium atmosphere, and engaging with the passionate fans, he began to seriously consider a move there. He mentioned that if Mata were still in Australia, it would enhance the appeal of the option, as Mata expressed to Bruno his deep love for the country and its culture.

"After the videos that he [Mata] sends me about the lifestyle, about playing golf, being on the beach, the stadium, all the fans, the conditions that he has at the club and everything, I could think about it. If he's still there living, it will be an even better option because he told me he's in love with the country, in love with the culture.' Bruno said.

"He's been telling me he probably regrets not coming earlier in his career to Australia. He's someone that you can feel how happy he is in a place, and I think, at the moment, Juan is that kind of person. He's really happy to be there. He's been only telling me good things. Obviously, at Christmas time, I was here with a lot of wind and cold, and he was sending me videos of the sun and him living in front of the beach – it was beautiful." he added.

While Fernandes has no intention of departing from United this month, he has mentioned that his former teammate Juan Mata has praised the quality of both Australia and the A-League.

Manchester United are set to face Fulham in their next Premier League fixture.
