Georgia and Spain are playing in the Euro 2024 round of 16 at the RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne, Germany. Georgia is making its debut in the European Championship knockout stages. This season, it's making its debut at a significant international tournament. The Bulldogs' most recent victory over Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal took them to the round of 16.
Long before Georgia made its debut in a major tournament as the lowest-ranked team at Euro 2024, Spain had already won back-to-back European crowns in 2008 and 2012. When they faced off in Euro 2024 qualifying, there was the 7-1 thrashing in Tbilisi in September and the 3-1 thrashing in Valladolid two months later.
Own goals remain the most common in Euro 2024. Spanish center-back Robin Le Normand scores another own goal, giving Georgia the lead against the flow of play. Georgian right-back Otar Kakabadze sent in a cross for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia at the far post, but the Spanish defender turned it into his net with his stomach. This was the tournament's ninth goal.

Rodri is back for Spain
Spain topped their "group of death" test with excellent performance, defeating Albania, Croatia, and Italy to wrap off the first round with a perfect record and three clean sheets. Georgia, on the other hand, won one and drew the three games they played in the group round.
When the teams last faced off, Spain defeated Georgia 3-1 in the UEFA European Championship qualifying round. The winner of the match will book their spot in quarter-final.
