Georgia made history on Thursday as they qualified for the RO16 of the UEFA Euro 2024 after beating Portugal in the final group-stage game. They are the lowest-rank team in the European competition to qualify for the knockout stages. Against all the odds, Georgia was 1-0 within two minutes of the game when Khvicha Kvaratskhelia broke the deadlock after Antonio Silva lost position in the middle of the park letting for a counterattack.
The Napoli striker has been a fan of the Portuguese superstar as he was one of the footballers who started his career through the academy that Ronaldo opened in Georgia. He also wears his idol jersey number 7 for the national team and after the game, he hugged the 39-year-old footballer and asked for his t-shirt. The legend of the game gave away his shirt to the young footballer.
After he received the shirt, he posted it on his Instagram account with "Dreams" written in the caption. Kvaratskhelia has come a long way, he produced a sensational display of all-action dribbling, before he was withdrawn to a standing ovation with a quarter of an hour to play. He spoke before the match about his dreams of playing against Ronaldo and getting his idol's shirt. He was also named the MOTM after his brilliant display.

Me hace gracia cómo hay una especie de competición entre los futbolistas jóvenes por ver quién es el mayor fanboy de Cristiano 😭

Georgia shocks Portugal
Roberto Martinez changed the side with Ruben Dias and Pepe not starting in defence. Most footballers who started the game against Turkey were rested as they qualified for the knockout rounds. However, Ronaldo led the way in an attack, as the former Real Madrid striker was left furious after his shirt was pulled inside the box. He has yet to score a goal in the tournament he just has one assist to his name.
Georgia scored the second after Silva’s poor outing continued in the second half when he brought down Luka Lochoshvili in the box. Mikautadze went from provider to goalscorer when he stepped up and converted the penalty in the 57th minute to double his nation's lead. They will be facing Spain in the next round.
