Know why Spain and Lamine Yamal might face punishment in UEFA Euro 2024?

Spain has been in amazing form in the UEFA Euro 2024. Luis de la Fuente's side is performing excellently in the tournament and won the first two games and secured their position for the next round of the tournament. In their first game, they cruised past Croatia beating them 3-0 and in the second they defeated Italy 1-0, but the scoreline could have been different if they capitalised on the chances they missed. 

The three times Euro winners amidst their good form have broken German Law and they might also be in trouble for missing their star footballer Lamine Yamal in the final group fixture against Albania. The 16-year-old has been one of the tournament's stars and is establishing himself as a potential world champion. Given his age, there have been many jokes about the winger still attending school and studying for tests as part of his mandatory education while in Germany.

As the law stands in the nation anyone under the age of 18 is not permitted to work after 20:00. Athletes are given the benefit of the doubt and can participate until 23:00, but this will still be an issue. Spain's game begins around 21:00 German time, so it may last longer than expected.

Will Germany allow Yamal to feature against Albania?

They have already secured the qualification, if any of Spain's knockout games begin at 21:00 and go into extra time, they will run beyond the curfew, putting La Roja at risk of paying a £30,000 fine if they violate the rules. A fine is primarily dependent on whether the German government takes action, but it is said that they are relatively casual about the factor and would most likely not find the Spanish team. 

Yamal has been amazing for FC Barcelona throughout the season and under Xavi scoring 7 goals and assisting 10 times in 50 games across all competitions for the club. He also had his first assist in any major tournament for the nation as he assisted Spain's third goal in the first game against Croatia.
