Spain have begun their UEFA Euro 2024 campaign in stunning fashion as they currently lead 3-0 after 45 minutes of play against Croatia. An opener from Alvaro Morata put the 2012 champions in the lead before Fabian Ruiz’s amazing goal increased their advantage in the contest. Seconds before the half-time whistle blew, Dani Carvajal was able to add another one and bring more misery for the Croatians.

A ball is threaded from the centre to the moving forward, Alvaro Morata. Despite having two defenders at his heels, he has the ability to use the opportunity towards the right of Livakovic and score. That score broke open what seemed to be a deadlock in the match. Ruiz worked miracles in a limited space to secure Spain's second place. He shuffles among a few Croatian players before finding just enough room to shoot from the very top of the box to the right post.

During the first half's stoppage time, Spain took a corner from their right side. Yamal gets passed the ball in the corner, and he notices Carvajal inside the penalty area. He sends in a fantastic cross, which the Spanish full-back clutches onto before firing from close range to give Spain three goals in the first half. The Carvajal goal was the final bit of play as the referee blew the whistle to signal the conclusion of the opening half.

The Spanish supporters, who had found their voice following Morata's opener, appeared to be in top form now. Croatia appears unsettled and would require a miracle to win all of the points today.

Lamine Yamal breaks record as he makes UEFA Euro 2024 debut

Lamine Yamal has beaten the record established by Poland's Kacper Kozlowski, who earned his Euro debut at 17 years and 246 days old in 2021. If Yamal scores for Spain against Croatia later today, he will become the youngest Euros goalscorer in history. Johann Vonlanthen of Switzerland now has the honour, having scored during UEFA Euro 2004.
