Switzerland began their UEFA Euro 2024 quest with a comfortable 3-1 victory over Hungary on June 15, joining Germany as joint Group A leaders. Switzerland, led by Granit Xhaka, dominated much of the first half, with Kwadwo Duah and Michel Aebischer giving the team a comfortable two-goal lead before Breel Embolo sealed the victory in stoppage time. Hungary attempted a late recovery into the game, with Barnabas Varga scoring late during the second half, however it was insufficient to carry his team through.

Hungary strengthened at the beginning of the 2nd half, although their efforts lacked excellence, including many wasted chances from set pieces and Gulácsi being tested several times. Hungary's greatest chance occurred when Barnabas Varga fired wide right around the hour mark, jeopardising Switzerland's lead.

Hungary, seen as one of the prospective outsiders for UEFA Euro 2024, battled to retain even a minute of possession versus Switzerland in the opening half. Switzerland, on the opposing hand, began the game with a clear aggressive purpose, centering the game in front of Hungary's goal. Duah's goal in the 12th minute set the tone for Switzerland's dominant performance in this game.

Which is the next game in the UEFA Euro 2024?

Spain and Croatia are scheduled to begin Group B as the UEFA Euro 2024 gets off in Germany. This is a rematch of the UEFA Nations League final, in which Spain defeated Croatia on penalties to win the trophy. However, given the other clubs in Group B, the match on Saturday in Berlin is going to be quite important.

This year's Group of Death includes Spain and Croatia, as well as the defending winners Italy and Albania. Croatia will be looking to recreate their strong performances in the last two World Cups, when they reached the final in 2018 and advanced to the semi-finals in 2018, defeating Brazil along the way. A win for either of these sides would be of significance as they look to advance out of the group of death.
