Germany defeated Women's World Cup winners Spain 1-0 on Friday to capture the bronze medal at the Paris Olympics with Ann-Katrin Berger's last-minute penalty save. During the ninth minute of stoppage time, Berger dove to save Alexia Putellas' effort at a penalty, then raised her hands in triumph. Putellas broke down in tears as the game concluded.

Germany had won the match thanks to a penalty kick converted by Giulia Gwinn in the second half. It was Germany's fourth Olympic bronze medal in women's soccer. After a barren first half, Gwinn, who had been fouled by Spain keeper Cata Coll, took her penalty with confidence in the 64th minute.

Three years ago, the Germans missed out on qualifying for Tokyo, but they did win the gold medal during the Rio de Janeiro Games in 2016. After winning the World Cup, Spain was rated number one in the world and was competing in its first Olympics.

Who won the bronze medal in the men’s competition at Paris Olympics 2024?

Morocco defeated Egypt 6-0 in Nantes on Thursday to capture the bronze medal in the men's football Olympic competition. After losing to Spain 2-1 in the semifinals, Morocco recovered with the biggest victory of the competition, which allowed them to stand on the Olympic podium for the first time. Goals from Abde Ezzalzouli, Bilal El Khannouss, Akram Nakach, and Achraf Hakimi were all key contributors to their victory.

After 23 minutes, Rahimi, the top scorer of the competition, doubled the advantage just over three minutes afterwards with a beautiful header from Ezzalzouli's cross. Ezzalzouli started the score with a fantastic strike into the top corner.

Rahimi scored his seventh Olympic strike to make it 4-0, and El Khannouss opened the score six minutes towards the second period with a fantastic low finish following a solo drive into the center of the box. Three minutes from time, captain Hakimi finished the massacre with a fantastic free kick. Defender Nakach scored after Rahimi's pass.
