Morocco wins the bronze medal in Olympic men's soccer after defeating Egypt 6-0

Egypt and Morocco will play for the bronze medal in Nantes on Thursday, hoping to round off their incredible Olympic men's football careers with a podium finish despite their hopes of winning gold medals having been dashed. Following an overwhelming 6-0 victory against Egypt on Thursday to earn bronze at the Paris Olympics, Morocco's ascent as a serious force in men's soccer continued on Tuesday with the country's first Olympic medal.

With 11 goals in the competition, including six from outstanding Soufaine Rahimi, Morocco easily won. However, Morocco will compete for third place after losing to Spain 2-1 on Monday. In the Olympic bronze medal match, Morocco's Abde Ezzalzouli scored a stunning goal with his right boot in the 23rd minute to establish a 1-0 lead against Egypt. Morocco's early lead came from Abde Ezzalzouli (23') and Soufaine Rahimi (26'), as they defeated Egypt 2-0 to take home the bronze medal in men's soccer. Rahimi is the overwhelming favorite to win the Golden Boot after his seventh goal of the Paris Games gave him the lead in goals scored. Three of Egypt's five goals in Paris came from star Ibrahim Adel, despite the team's lesser production. France beat Egypt 3-1 on Monday in their semifinal match.
