In an attempt to advance to the last four, Morocco and the United States of America squared off in the Olympic quarterfinals. It turned out to be an easy win for Morocco as they swept past the North American nation to book their place in the final four of the Paris Olympics 2024. Morocco would now face the winner of the second quarter-final match between Japan and Spain. With Hakimi at the helm and a young squad giving confidence, the African nation are hoping to earn a medal in the football competition.

Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi scored a solo goal after driving the ball from his own half to increase their lead to three goals. It was a magnificent effort from the attacking defender as he won the ball in a duel and ran past two defenders. The defender thought he had the better chance since Hakimi was on his weaker foot but the right-back took an effort from his left foot. The keeper had no chance as he was blindsided by his own defender and the ball squeezed past his near post.

How did Morocco and the USA perform prior to this match?

The African country has played incredibly well, defeating Argentina in the opening round and destroying Iraq 3-0 to close the group. Their lone setback thus far has been their 2-1 loss to Ukraine. After getting hammered by the French during their opening round match, the USA bounced back with two solid wins over Guinea and New Zealand.

Since the USA has had their share of problems, this represented a much more difficult situation for them. The pace and technological prowess of Morocco's starting lineup proved too much for them to handle. They have bowed out of the tournament in the quarter-final stage and would be looking to do a much better performance in the next Olympic games which will be held in their own country.
