Arshad Nadeem has not only become Pakistan's hero but also won billions of hearts across the world, even Indians, with his historic feat at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The 27-year-old became the first Pakistani to win a gold medal at the Olympics with his record-breaking javelin throw at Stade de France on Thursday, August 8.

He threw a massive 92.97 meters in his second attempt to seal the title. Notably, India’s Neeraj Chopra finished second in the competition with a season-best of 89.45 meters throw. As wishes and congratulations pour in for Nadeem from all quarters, his struggles on the way to achieving the milestone are also discussed.

It’s an insult to both Arshad and the nation: Danish Kaneria takes dig at Pakistan PM

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister of Pakistan took to his social media to congratulate Nadeem on his historic achievement and shared a picture of him handing over a PKR 10 million (INR 3 lakh) check to the athlete. Former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria took a dig at Sharif for gifting a paltry amount to the Olympic champion, saying it’s not enough for him to meet his real needs.

“Bravo Arshad. History made! Pakistan’s first Olympic men’s javelin champion, Arshad Nadeem brings home a historic gold medal at Paris 2024! You’ve made the whole nation proud young man,” PM wrote on X.

It is worth noting that the Olympic gold medalist gets a prize money of around INR 42 lakh - more than four times what the Pakistan PM offered. Kaneria asked his national leader to come up with a graceful congratulations.

“Mr. Prime Minister, at least offer a graceful congratulations. Delete the picture of the million rupees you gave—it does nothing for his real needs. This amount is so small he can’t even afford air tickets. It’s an insult to both Arshad and the nation, considering his ongoing struggles,” the leg-spinner responded.
