Neymar made the announcement on social media that, twelve years after leaving, he would be returning to Santos, the Brazilian team where he trained. After 12 years away from Santos to play in Europe, Neymar is making a comeback.
The news brings Rodrygo great joy. In addition to posting photos of their time together, Rodrygo wrote tributes for Neymar on his Instagram page.
"My idol! This is what I was referring to you about 15 years ago (time flies)."Today, being more than an idol, a friend, you earn my respect and admiration even more. Contrary to all logic, putting love and happiness above all, I can't help but be proud of my childhood idol.β "Saint Nation, can you celebrate... the prince is back!" Rodrygo writes on his Instagram post.Β

In an effort to revive his career before the 2026 World Cup, Neymar has announced that he would sign a relatively short-term deal with Santos, his childhood club. According to local media, Neymar, 32, announced Thursday that he would be rejoining the Sao Paulo club, and the contract would only last until June 30.Β
"I want to thank the fans around the world who really wished for this moment. Itβs been almost 12 years since I left the 'Vila' β the most famous in the world β and it feels like it was just yesterday. My feelings for the club and the fans never changed," Neymar said.

Additionally, he praised Saudi Arabia, a "wonderful" country, and Al-Hilal for their kind welcome and congratulated them on their selection as the 2034 World Cup host. After agreeing with Al-Hilal, with whom he has only played seven games since joining the Saudi squad in August 2023, the striker, who will soon turn 33, is returning home. Neymar has already participated in 225 Santos games.Β
Many of the 138 goals he scored for the team were crucial to the six titles he won at the Brazilian powerhouse, which was demoted in 2023 but made a comeback to the top flight last year. In addition, Neymar, who has scored 79 goals in 125 games, is focused on obtaining more playing time so that he can be ready for the World Cup in North America next year, which may be his final chance to win the competition.
