Real Madrid are playing against surprise package Brest on Wednesday night to wrap off their Champions League away-from-home campaign. Wednesday night's Champions League match between Real Madrid and Stade Brestois was delayed.
This resulted from events that occurred in the Stade de Roudourou stands. The previous time Brest played against Los Blancos in France as part of the last round of games in the league phase of the recently redesigned Champions League.
It will be difficult for Real Madrid to get in the top eight of the league phase rankings but they are making progress after leading Brest in their first Champions League stage encounter.
The game at the Stade du Roudourou, which was postponed because of smoke before kickoff, has started reasonably evenly. While both sides have had opportunities, Real Madrid has taken advantage of them, and Rodrygo Goes has scored to maintain his strong recent play.
Less than 60 seconds before he scored, Rodrygo had a fantastic opportunity, but Brest goalkeeper Marco Bizot had saved his close-range header. Thankfully, he and Real Madrid didn't have to wait long to score, which will calm them down in France.

Vinicius Junior misses the game due to red card
Although Real Madrid would not currently finish in the top eight with this outcome, they would be in a better position to qualify for the playoffs. A suspension has been imposed on Vinícius Junior for Real Madrid's Champions League match against Brest.
After receiving his third yellow card during the league phase against RB Salzburg, the winger will be suspended for one game. Suspensions are nothing new to the 24-year-old this season.
Before the Christmas break, Vinícius Júnior had already been suspended for one game for accruing yellow cards in La Liga, and he was recently suspended for two games after being sent off for a straight red card against Valencia.
