Netherlands vs England: A look at their last five meetings

On Saturday, the Netherlands overcame a 2-1 deficit to defeat Turkey and advance to play England in the UEFA Euro 2024 semifinals. Samet Akaydin's first-half goal in the quarterfinal was eliminated by a header from Stefan de Vrij and an own goal by Mert Muldur inside the closing 20 minutes, guaranteeing the Dutch's spot in Wednesday's final four match in Dortmund. Earlier in the evening, England qualified for the UEFA Euro 2024 semifinals by defeating Switzerland on penalties.

Netherlands do have the upper hand in this fixture as they have won three out of their last five matches against England. Their last meeting came during the UEFA Nations League semi-finals where the game went into extra-time but the 1988 Euros winners were able to clinch the game and seal their spot in the finals of the tournament.

England are technically the away team in this semi-final fixture at the UEFA Euro 2024 and would certainly look at this statistic as some sort of inspiration going into the encounter. Netherlands have played exciting football but England is one of the teams they might need to be vary of since they have not encountered them over the past five years.
