England and Switzerland faced off during the UEFA Euro 2024 quarterfinal at the Dusseldorf Arena against Switzerland. Breel Embolo's vital tap-in goal gave Switzerland the lead during the 77th minute, with England failing to muster a chance on goal. Nevertheless, their lead was short-lived as Bukayo Saka equalized during the 81st minute by hitting a curling effort from the outside of the box.

Switzerland had an amazing chance to seal the deal with a late winner but could not get the composure to get over the line. The game is now gone into extra-time and it is now anyone’s game but England seem to be on the back-foot and nothing seems to be clicking for them.

Who all are starting the game between England and Switzerland today?

This marks England's manager Gareth Southgate's 100th game in charge. Since taking over as England's manager in 2016, Southgate has guided the team to three different World Cup semifinals: third in the UEFA Nations League tournament the following year, runners-up at Euro 2020, and third in the World Cup.

Jude Bellingham, who was suspended for making an insulting gesture during his team's 2024 Euro victory over Slovakia, has been selected in England's starting lineup for their quarterfinal matchup against Switzerland. UEFA penalized the Real Madrid playmaker 30,000 euros ($32,500) as a result.

This implies that Bellingham has received a one-game penalty, but he can use it whenever he pleases for a year. It is evident that the outstanding offensive midfield player did not choose to serve that kind of ban during England's pivotal knockout match.

Xherdan Shaqiri, a midfielder for Chicago Fire FC, will not start for Switzerland versus England during the Euro 2024 quarterfinal at the Dusseldorf Arena. In the UEFA Euro 2024 group stage, the 32-year-old former player for Bayern Munich and Liverpool has only started one game, but that one goal was a fantastic one.

In important competitions, he has been one of his country's most productive players. In his 132 international games for his nation, he has scored 32 goals.
