Only six minutes into Wednesday's first leg of Tottenham's Carabao Cup semi-final matchup with Liverpool, midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur was carried out on a stretcher. The Uruguayan international strained to head a ball from a corner before falling. Later in the hospital, he got stable and shared his health update through social media.
Before Brennan Johnson, a forward, took his place, Bentancur was treated on the field for around nine minutes and given oxygen. Rodrigo Bentancur was stretchered off the field and replaced by Brennan Johnson after receiving some oxygen on the field. Bentancur had bizarrely fallen while attempting to head the ball unmarked in the six-yard box. Bentancur has just made his comeback to the field following a seven-match domestic suspension. He was banned after making offensive remarks about Tottenham captain Son Heung-min in a Uruguayan TV interview.
Despite their worries for their teammate's health following a bizarre head injury in the sixth minute, Tottenham Hotspur players put on a strong display on the field and maintained a clean sheet following Lucas Bergvall's game-winning goal in the 86th minute.
