Ashley Young has the opportunity of a lifetime to face off against his 18-year-old son, Tyler in the third round of the FA Cup, as Everton has been drawn against Peterborough United. The young player shared his thoughts on X after the draw, expressing enthusiasm for the potential matchup. Tyler, who signed with Everton this summer following a successful trial, has already made one appearance in the EFL Trophy. This upcoming game could be a memorable moment for both the father and son duo.

Young Sr, at 39, is in the tail-end of his career, yet he remains an active contributor with 13 appearances for Sean Dyche's side this season. His wealth of experience as a professional is invaluable; he already claimed the FA Cup once in 2016, representing Manchester United.

Next month, Peterborough will be visiting Goodison Park, and Young is excited to watch his son compete at the League One club where he made his first senior appearance this season. 

Ashley Young's long career at Europe's top Clubs 

The former England international has represented various top clubs across Europe like Aston Villa, Manchester United and Inter-Milan.

The 39-year-old finds himself in a scenario akin to that of LeBron James and his son Bronny, who made history as the first father-son duo to compete together in an NBA regular season.

The third round is set to begin from January 11th. In this round, a total of 44 clubs from the Premier League and the second-tier Championship will enter the competition, along with 20 lower-league and non-league teams that qualified from the previous round.

Young Senior has amassed a total of 70 goals across various clubs he has represented over the years. It is an esteemed feat because he primarily plays in a fullback position for his clubs. The Englishmen have also netted 7 goals for England in 39 appearances.
