Real Madrid is reportedly joining Barcelona in the pursuit of Benfica defender Alvaro Carreras as they look to strengthen their defence. Carreras is currently under contract with the Portuguese side until June 2029.
This season, Real Madrid has faced hardships in their defensive lineup due to numerous injuries to key players like Dani Carvajal, Eder Militao, and David Alaba. Additionally, the full-back duo of Lucas Vazquez and Ferland Mendy have not yet achieved the desired results. Signing a player like Carreras could provide the reinforcement they need.
The Galacticos are aggressively pursuing Álvaro Carreras to strengthen their defensive lineup. According to Diario AS, both Barcelona and Real Madrid are set on securing the services of Benfica's left-back Álvaro Carreras next summer. However, the report clearly indicate that Carreras has no intention of leaving Benfica shortly. The Portuguese giants have firmly placed a €50 million price tag on the left-back. Additionally, Manchester United has also shown interest in the Spaniard in recent weeks.
Alvaro Carreras presents an excellent opportunity for both La Liga giants, as each team looks to strengthen their defensive lineup. He would serve as a solid alternative to Alejandro Balde at Camp Nou, providing the latter with the necessary rest.
Additionally, Carreras appears to be a cost-effective option for Real Madrid. This signing would not only enhance the team's defence but also contribute to the broader goal of increasing the number of Spanish players in the Galacticos, a target the board aims to achieve in future.
The youngester played an important role for his club, Benfica in the recent UEFA Champions League fixture against Barcelona. Benfica lost the goal-fest with a close 4-5 scoreline against the Catalans.
