Manchester United after suffering a shocking loss against Chelsea on Thursday, at Stamford Bridge, might have just gone out of chasing Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa for the UEFA Champions League spot for the next season. They are currently eight points behind the North London side. The Red Devils will be hosting in-form Liverpool on Sunday at the Old Trafford. The Reds are in red-hot form in the current season and are presently league leaders as well.

The home side will be missing 7 of their defenders with Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans being the latest addition to the long list. Erik ten Hag will be under huge pressure after losing the game against Chelsea in the dying minutes of the game and he will have a headache of picking the proper playing XI on Sunday. However, the last time these two teams met was in the FA Cup quarter-finals where the Red Devils emerged victorious with Marcus Rashford scoring the winning goal in the dying moments of the extra time.

Jurgen Klopp's side are currently at the top of the table with 70 points. They defeated the Reds at Anfield on Thursday 3-1 with Alexis Mac Allister scoring the possible goal of the season. The Argentine midfielder scored from a volley from outside the box that ended up in the top right corner.

Manchester United vs Liverpool: Prediction

United will be desperate to win the game on Sunday. However, the task will be a difficult one for the Red Devils with so many players missing. Ten Hag needs to set a good defensive lineup to prevent the star-studded Liverpool attack from scoring. Marcus Rashford who started on the bench on Thursday needs to step up again for the side.

Mohammad Salah who returned from the injury played some minutes in the game against Sheffield United and was not lethal, due to which he was subbed off in the early stages of the second half. He likes to score against United and might be the player to watch out for.

Prediction: 1-1 Draw
