Premier League 2023-24 Match Ratings: Liverpool vs Sheffield United, Matchday 30

The lead was equalised in the early stages of the second half after a header from Hamer got deflected from the Conor Bradley and ended up. But a superb striker from Alexis MacAllister gave the lead back to the home side.

Liverpool hosted Sheffield United at Anfield on Thursday. They we league leaders have been in excellent form in the current season. They opened the scoring after the Sheffield United goalkeeper made a horrible mistake while kicking out a loose ball. Ivo Grbic hit the ball against Darwin Nunez who was pressing the ball and the ball ended up in the back of the net in the 17th minute of the game.   

The lead was equalised in the early stages of the second half after a header from Hamer got deflected from the Conor Bradley and ended up. But a superb striker from Alexis MacAllister gave the lead back to the home side. Then Cody Gakpo sealed the deal for the side scoring in the 90th minute of the game making it 3-1 and getting back the top spot after matchday 30, with 70 points. In the article we will be looking match ratings of the game. 

Here are the ratings from the game: 

Liverpool FC

Caoimhin Kelleher- 7.5

Kelleher have not had many saves to do, but he failed to keep a header of Hamer out from goal after the deflection from Bradley. He made one brilliant save towards the end of the first half to deny the Blades to open the scoring. 

Conor Bradley- 7

Conor Bradley was good despite conceding the own goal. He was brilliant in the defensive and attacking third he made good conrtibution to the side. 

Ibrahima Konate- 7.5

Konate was brilliant throughout the game, despite conceding, he was good in the 1v1 situations inside the box and did not let the the Blades strikers to dribble past him.

Virgil Van Dijk- 7

Van Dijik has been the main man for the Reds, the club captain was brilliant in the night. However he never faced struggles defending out against the visitors. The Dutch centre back had the chance to take the lead in the second half but was denied by the Blades goalkeeper.  

Joe Gomez- 6

Joe Gomez started in an unsual position at the left back. He contributed in the attack and looked to have some shots that were being blocked by the Sheffield defence. He was taken off in the 73rd minute off the game. 

Alexis Mac Allister- 8

The Argentine central midfielder have had the best game, he was pushing to score a goal from outside the box and failed to do so till 75 minutes and then the world class strike from outside the box that gave his side the lead back in the 76th minute of the game. 

Dominic Szoboszlai- 6

Szoboszlai has been the game changer for the Reds in the midfield. But he was not at his best against the Blades on Thursday and failed to create something for himself or for the team. He was taken off during the 72nd minute. 

Ryan Gravenberch- 5

Gravenberch was never in control of the midfield. Despite starting the game he failed to have an impact and create some good balls for the forwards and was thus replaced. 

Mohammad Salah- 5.5

Salah have not had the best chances to open the scoring or get some shots to trouble the United goalkeeper. He was taken off after the first 10 minutes of the second half. 

Luis Diaz- 6.0

Diaz had a fair game as the Colombian failed to have any impact on the game and kept on trying but failed to increase the lead, most of the times he hit the opposition defenders. 

Dariwn Nunez- 8

The Uruguyan international break the dead lock from the goalkeeper's mistake, as while clearing the ball it got hit on his back side of the leg and ending up in the goal.

Andrew Robertson- 6

Robertson did not start the game but came in as a sub and had an immediate impact on the game with his crosses that could have opened the scoring. 

Curtis Jones- 7

After he came off from the bench the complete control over the game returned for the Reds and he helped MacAllister to play more freely.

Bobby Clark-N/A

Harvey Elliott- 5

Elliot despite coming of the bench in the early stages did not have the best of his outing and could not make a serious impact in the game. 

Cody Gakpo- 7.5

Cody Gakpo came as sub and scored the 3rd and final goal of the match and sealed the win for the side. The Dutch winger was decent after coming off the bench and created some chances as well.

Sheffield United 

Ivo Grbic- 7

Due to his goalkeeping howler, the home side opened the scoring. However except for the mistake he was decent and made some saves to keep the lead 1-0 in the first half. He denied a genuine goalscoring opportunity of Van Dijk in the second half. But he failed to stop the firing shot of MacAllister. 

Mason Holgate- 6.5

Holgate was good with his defensive ability and kept the Liverpool wingers quiet in the first half. He dealt with Luis Diaz well and kept the Colombian winger not do any damage. 

Anel Ahmedhodzic- 7

He was solid in the defence against such a quality front three of the Reds. He was good with his anticipation of the ball and well positioned every time Nunez was inside the box and kept Mohammad Salah quiet as well.  

Auston Trusty- 7.5

Trusty had a Salah on his side and he did the job given to him beautifully as he did not let the Egyptian winger get a slightest of chance to open the scoring or get a chance to have a shot at the keeper. 

Oliver Arblaster- 5.5

He had some beautiful moments on the ball, but did not have a lot of time to get the ball down and play as he would have wanted to. 

Jayden Bogle- 6

Bogle was up against Luis Diaz, he performed admirably against one of the league's most dangerous players on current form. He gave the threat going the opposite way as well, forcing a save from Kelleher in first-half extra time following a layoff from Brereton Diaz.

Vinícius Souza- 6.5

Souza was brilliant in the centre half of the ground. He did not let the likes of Szoboszlai, Mac Allister dominate the midfield and kept them quiet most of the game. 

Gustavo Hamer- 6

Hamer was the player who headed the ball down, that led to generate the own goal from Bradley. He was decent throughout the game and was taken off after the hour mark of the game.  

Jack Robinson- 6.5 

Robinson the former Liverpool player did not have the easiest of times against the likes of Nunez and Salah had a fair bit of joy cutting across him and feeding some dangerous crosses at the face of the opponents goal.  

James McAtee- 5.5 

McAtee also had a decent game. He could not make any such attacking threat nor trouble the Reds keeper. Thus was subbed off after 60 minutes of the game. 

Brereton Diaz- 5.5

Diaz failed to have a impact on the game. However the striker tried heading the ball which he missed and that went to Hamer who led the own goal to happen.
