Manchester United faced Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge on Thursday. The Blues won the game 4-3 in the stoppage time, this was their first win after 12 games against the Red Devils. Cole Palmer was the hero for the home side as the forward scored a hattrick against Man U. The fans saw a thrilling end-to-end game, United were leading till the 99th minute of the game and bottled in one minute by conceding two goals within 60 seconds.

But what added to their misery was that their long injury list got extended as two more names were added after the game. The two centre-backs Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans were the latest to be on the list. The latter replaced Varane for the start of the second half but unfortunately, he had to be taken off after 20 minutes of the second half and was replaced by Willy Kambwala. The effect was seen on the pitch after the two experienced defenders were taken off.

The Red Devils have a series of injuries this season, with Lisandro Martínez, Jonny Evans, Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia the defenders who are out of action for the club. However, with 7 defenders injured the problem has been a serious one for the former Ajax coach.

Will Erik ten Hag stay at United next season?

Erik ten Hag's hot seat was under fire after the draw against Brentford and now with the loss against the Blues, his managerial career might be under scrutiny. The Dutch coach previously asked the management to have patience with the first team. The coach himself has the belief that he might get some more time for the team to perform well. They will be facing Liverpool in their next game at Old Trafford.

With the form the Reds are in it will be a difficult task for Ten Hag to take three points against Jurgen Klopp's side. However in their last meeting, United defeated them in the FA Cup quarter-finals with Marcus Rashford scoring the winning goal in the extra time.
