Pep Guardiola is likely to move out from his £8.5 million property in Barcelona following his recent decision to part ways with his wife, Cristina Serra.
On Monday evening, reports emerged from Spain indicating that Guardiola and Cristina have chosen to separate after three decades of companionship.
Pep to relinquish his lavish property
Pep Guardiola, a family man with three grown-up children, has made his home life a priority. He stays at their family residence, an astounding £8.4 million mansion located in Barcelona's prestigious neighbourhood, whenever he returns from Manchester.
As he plans for future visits to Barcelona, his residence choices are still in focus. When he's not in Spain, he resides in the comfortable Deansgate City Suites in central Manchester.
It is anticipated that Cristina will continue living in the family home, a property that previously belonged to Rafa Marquez, Guardiola's former Mexican centre-back. Guardiola acquired this residence, located in the posh area of Barcelona, from a Russian businessman in February 2021.
He is believed to have acquired the property through a company he co-managed with his wife, with the purchase price set at an impressive €10 million.
This four-storey residence is situated near a scenic six-mile stretch of dirt tracks on the outskirts of Barcelona, known as Carretera de les Aigues. The property boasts a spacious swimming pool and covers an extensive plot of over 22,000 square feet, while the house itself offers generous living space at 8,000 square feet.
The Catalan press quickly capitalized on the house purchase, revealed in June 2021, interpreting it as a clear indication that Guardiola was plotting a return to Barcelona after Joan Laporta was elected president.
Cristina Serra took up residence in the property two years after relocating from Manchester back to her home city.
A Spanish journalist who shared the divorce news has clarified that the decision made by Guardiola and his wife Cristina to separate has nothing to do with a third party. Lorena Vazquez, part of the well-regarded reporting duo known in Spain as the Mamarazzis, explained that this was a thoughtful choice that the couple had been discussing for several months.
