Lamine Yamal predicts next Ballon d'Or winner
Barcelona's teen sensation Lamine Yamal has made a bold prediction about the Ballon d'Or winner for the 2024-25 season. He believes that either he or Raphinha has a strong chance of winning the 2025 Ballon d'Or if Barcelona secures titles this season.
Barcelona is vying for a triple this year, enjoying an exceptional campaign under former Bayern Munich gaffer Hansi Flick. They have advanced to the quarterfinals of the Champions League and reached the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey. Additionally, the Catalan giants are currently leading the La Liga title race against Real Madrid, holding a slight edge on goal difference with a game in hand.
Lamine Yamal predicts Ballon d'Or winner of the season
The Catalan club has dominated the European circuit this season on the back of their fresh Ka Masia graduates and other youngsters. Lamine Yamal thinks that he and his big brother Raphinha are strong contenders for the Ballon d'Or award if Barcelona manages to win titles this season. He also spoke greatly of his captain, Raphinha, who has the second-highest goal contributions this season across club competitions.
"We haven’t talked about that. If we win the titles they have ahead of us, one of us will win it, whoever it is. I’m very happy for Raphinha. I always tell him his change has been incredible and he’s having a great time. The Ballon d’Or does not worry me." Yamal said to Diario Sports.
"I go out to enjoy myself and not think about this. I want to enjoy and have a good time, play football, which is what I do best, and not think about these things." Yamal added.
Both Raphinha and Lamine Yamal have been in red-hot form this season. The duo, along with Robert Lewandowski, has emerged as the most frightening attacking trio for their opposition. Raphinha has netted 26 goals and 19 assists this season. This includes a hat-trick against Bayern Munich in the Champions League and clutch goals against Benfica and Real Madrid in El-Classico.
Lamine Yamal has scored 13 goals and amassed 17 assists for the Catalan club. His link-up play and dribbles have left Barcelona's opposition reeling in every match of the season.
Raphinha is set to represent Brazil, while Lamine Yamal will play for his country, Spain, in the upcoming FIFA International break.
