Before the opening match of UEFA Euro 2024 against Scotland, Niclas Fullkrug blasted a misdirected shot into the audience that fractured the hand of an unlucky Germany supporter. A fan of Germany had a terrible start to UEFA Euro 2024 when Niclas Fullkrug's shot fractured his hand.

At the Allianz Arena on Friday night, Kai Flathmann paid €195 (£164) for a prime spot behind the goal to watch Germany take on Scotland in the tournament's opening game. However, during the warm-up, he managed to snag a stray shot from Germany striker Fullkrug's boot, which caused him to miss the entire match.

After a clumsy warm-up attempt, Fullkrug recovered his shooting form and scored during the second half shortly after stepping from the replacements' bench as Germany defeated them 5-1. Though devastated to miss the game, Flathmann has promised to attend Germany's upcoming play versus Hungary on Wednesday and is taken aback by the response.

Germany's Euro campaign got off to the ideal start when Fullkrug scored with a thunderous shot after coming off the bench against Scotland. In Group A, Switzerland defeated Hungary 3-1 in another match.

What did the Germany national team fan say about the unfortunate incident?

According to reports, the German team would apologise to Flathmann by sending him a signed Fullkrug shirt. The fan said, “I sang along to the anthem on a stretcher!” Flathmann told Bild. “I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry! I unfortunately had to give up my dream of watching the opening game! But when do you ever get your hand broken by Fullkrug? “Luckily, he adjusted in the game and made it 4-0! On Wednesday we will continue in Stuttgart and I will be there to cheer the team from behind the goal again.”

He added, “I have no words, crazy things. Bild is now reporting on this unfortunate incident and the German FA have been in touch with me as well!”
