Newcastle United is set to secure the future of their 23-year-old player after much speculation about the Magpies' intention to offer him a new deal. Securing Gordon's new contract has become a priority for the club, signalling their commitment to retaining key attacking talent and reaffirming their support for the player. Additionally, signing him to a long-term deal will help maintain Gordon's value in case of potential future transfers.
Gordon gets the right Value
The new contract reflects his true value and will elevate him to one of Newcastle’s highest-earning players, acknowledging the significant development of his game over the past 18 months.
This news follows a complex summer for Gordon, during which he was part of the England squad at the European Championship but only saw limited playing time.
Simultaneously, Newcastle initiated talks with Liverpool regarding a potential last-resort deal for Gordon if they were unable to resolve their issues with adhering to the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability regulations.
Update from Fabrizio Romano
Newcastle has prioritized extending Gordon's contract, which was set to expire in 2026. Fabrizio Romano recently shared an exciting update on the situation, stating that the England international will be signing a contract extension until 2030.
Romano posted on X: “Important detail on Anthony Gordon’s new deal at Newcastle: been told it will be valid until June 2030. The agreement is done and it’s gonna be for the next 6 years and not 5 as initially expected. Key move for #NUFC long-term project and ambitions.”

No Release Clause
When reports surfaced about Gordon signing a new deal, many anticipated the inclusion of a release clause in his contract. Similar to Bruno Guimaraes' commitment to the Magpies, it's speculated that Alexander Isak's contract may follow suit.
However, there are reports suggesting that Gordon's new six-year contract with Newcastle United will not feature a release clause.
