It is reported that Manchester United has already accumulated £25 million, which could prove beneficial for their upcoming summer spending. This could potentially play a significant role in their pursuit of Jamal Musiala. The Bayern Munich forward appears to have attracted the interest of several top European clubs, and there seems to be a stand-off between the player's representatives and the German heavyweights.
According to emerging reports from The Express, Musiala has reportedly turned down another contract offer from the Bundesliga outfit. It is suggested that Bayern Munich may now have to consider selling the German superstar.
Top European Clubs are in line to sign the German midfielder
Speculations indicate a potential transfer fee of around £120 million, which would set a new record for the Premier League. Manchester United's local rivals, Manchester City, are rumored to be leading the race for his signature. Arsenal, Liverpool, United, and Real Madrid are also known to show interest in the German midfielder.
Jamal's exploits at Bundesliga
Musiala has dual nationality through his Nigerian-British father and represented England at various age-group levels up to the Under-21s before deciding to play for Germany at the senior level. He participated in Euro 2024 for the host nation this summer and has earned 36 caps with six goals to date.
The former Southampton and Chelsea youngster has made 167 appearances for Bayern in all competitions, amassing 45 goals and 32 assists with the German heavyweights.
Can Man United make this signing happen?
One red flag for any team could be the exorbitant transfer fee being suggested. United may also need to re-qualify for the Champions League to even have a chance of signing him.
However, if they do re-emerge at the top table in Europe this season, one deal already completed next summer is set to act as a welcome boost to their transfer budget. Jadon Sancho left Old Trafford on deadline day as he pursued a fresh start at Chelsea, and he has already made an impact for the Stamford Bridge side.
The deal, starting with an initial loan, will be made permanent for £25 million next summer. The Sancho clause is an obligation rather than an option, so Chelsea cannot back out, and United have guaranteed future income. That leaves United with just another £95 million to find for Musiala's proposed signature.
