Manchester United is actively pursuing a summer transfer for the Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez, as indicated by the recent reports. After investing approximately £180m in the new signings to bolster Erik Ten Hag’s squad at the beginning of the season, the club has made some significant decisions early on.
Just nine matches into the Premier League season, Manchester United chose to part ways with Ten Hag and appointed Ruben Amorim from Sporting Lisbon as their new manager.
The budget for enhancing Amorim's squad in January was very limited, resulting in Patrick Dorgu being the sole winter signing. However, multiple reports indicate that there were serious attempts to bring in several players during the window, with interest in Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel reaching an advanced stage.
Additionally, there were strong rumours that early enquiries were made for Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz, as Amorim was determined to bolster his midfield options.
There are developments on the horizon as plans are being formulated to bring in fresh talent this summer. Reports from Spain suggest that Manchester United is keen on acquiring Fermin from Barcelona.
Fermin has been an important asset for Barcelona, and although he has primarily been utilized as a substitute by manager Hansi Flick, his recent performances have shown considerable improvement. In his last five matches, he has demonstrated his potential by scoring three goals.
Reports suggest that Manchester United manager Amorim is eager to capitalize on Fermin's impressive form to persuade him to consider a move away from Camp Nou. Although, the young Spaniard is currently focused on his career at Barcelona, United is set to offer €50 million in the summer, which could prompt Fermin to contemplate his future, especially if Flick doesn't assure him a starting position.
In addition, Chelsea is expressing interest in the Spain international, proposing a contract that would double his current salary at Barcelona and provide him with a more influential role within the team.
