According to Spanish newspaper Defensa Central, City have an interest in acquiring Kroos this summer after missing out on the playmaker last year when Ilkay Gundogan departed the club.

According to the report, the previous season's treble winners were willing to give Kroos £13 million per year under a short-term contract. Kroos is presently indecisive about his future after helping Madrid win another LaLiga title and get to this season's Champions League final.

The final versus Borussia Dortmund at Wembley Stadium on June 1st might be his final game for Madrid, and possibly even his last as a professional soccer player, with retirement potentially an option this summer.

Despite many rumours, Manchester City are unlikely to sign Kroos at the moment of his career. The midfielder has become one among the game's top players and continues to produce high-quality performances, although he's currently 34 years old and is set to turn 35 in January. If he decides to continue his career, he will most likely stay at Real Madrid for another season.  The 33-year-old German just agreed to an a one-year renewal of his agreement alongside Los Blancos early this year, therefore his present Real Madrid contract is slated to end in June 2024.

Real Madrid set to sign Toni Kroos replacement next summer

According to reports, La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid have decided on a man to replace Toni Kroos, their ageing midfield maestro. According to speculations, Los Blancos intend to replace the 34-year-old Kroos with a different German star. Florian Wirtz, an attacking midfielder who helped Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen achieve success under Xabi Alonso, has been linked with Real Madrid. ESPN stated that the Spanish club aims to bring in the 21-year-old during the summer of 2025.

Kroos, who lately reappeared to playing for the national team after a retirement, had previously hinted at his willingness to hang off his boots. However, Real Madrid persuaded him to extend his agreement with the club.
