Victor Lindelof, the defender for Manchester United, may leave the team this summer after playing very little for the team over the last two seasons. Reports stated that the defender may leave for fresh opportunities because he only has one year left on his current contract.

After Jose Mourinho's return to his native Portugal to entice the Swedish player away from the capital, Lindelof joined United in 2017 from Benfica. Since then, he has been an essential member of the squad. The defender has excelled in his 259 appearances across all competitions at Old Trafford, however Sheth thinks Mourinho, who recently took over as Fenerbahce's manager, might steal him once more.

It is no secret that Lindelof's future at United appears uncertain. With only one year remaining on his deal, the defender's future seems set in stone despite making the fewest appearances since his debut at Old Trafford last season.

It wouldn't make enough sense to part ways with Lindelof at this time, with Raphael Varane leaving the Red Devils, but he will just be moved down the ladder as new targets are expected to arrive. The current first-choice duo is Lisandro Martinez and Harry Maguire, although Jonny Evans linked a new one-year contract. Thus, it will be difficult for Lindelof, to break the mold and start games for the team this upcoming season.

Who are Manchester United going after during the transfer window?

After rumors circulated that he would be moving to Everton as a makeweight in a trade for Jarrad Branthwaite, Lindelof is once again available for acquisition. However, it appears that the Red Devils will not pursue the Toffees star because of his hefty price tag.

Additionally, there have been rumors that United may try to trade him for Inter Milan player Benjamin Pavard. However, as of right now, it appears that no progress has been made on this departure, leaving his future uncertain as Fenerbahce appears to be taking precedence.
