Bayer Leverkusen is seeing many of their long-standing stars leave the club ahead of the summer transfer window. Bayer Leverkusen's defender Jonathan Tah has decided to join the Bavarian club aka Bayern Munich.
This football transfer news marks the addition of Jonathan Tah to the list of other key players like Jeremy Frimpong and Florian Wirtz who are set to leave the club next season. Both the player and the club have come to terms to negotiate the contract.
Jonathan Tah joins Bayern Munich
As per the reports of famous football transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Jonathan Tah has made his decision to leave Bayer Leverkusen and join Bayern Munich ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup. The journalist reported that both parties have agreed on the transfer with Bayer Leverkusen awaiting Bayern Munich to start working on the transfer fee of the player before he participated in the FIFA Club World Cup.
The 29-year-old German defender is set to be out of contract this summer. He was the prime target for multiple top clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona along with Bayern Munich. It was finally the Bavarians who were successful in securing the signature of the centre-back.
The defender is anticipated to sign a four-year deal with the Bavarian club. His medical tests shall be conducted by next week. Although Bayern Munich attempted to sign him last season Tah chose to serve one additional season for Leverkusen under Xabi Alonso. He played a key role in Leverkusen's last season exploits where the club tipped Bayern Munich to become Bundesliga champions.
Jonathan Tah has been very influential in Bayer Leverkusen's rise to the top of the Bundesliga. The German defender spent a decade of his career at Bay Arena. He represented the club in 291 fixtures across club competitions. He also netted 15 goals over the years. In addition, Tah has also amassed 35 caps for the German national team so far.
