At the Frankfurt Arena, Germany faced Switzerland in the last group stage match of UEFA Euro 2024. Robert Andrich, a midfielder for Bayer Leverkusen, believed he had given the home team the lead during the 17th minute with a long-range effort that deflected off the Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer and into the goal.

However, VAR analysis verified that during the build-up to the goal, young Jamal Musiala had tackled Michel Aebischer in the Swiss penalty area too late. Dan Ndoye of Switzerland scored his first goal for his country and took his team the lead approximately ten minutes later with a simple finish just in front of goal.

Germany began the second half of the game with a lot more tenacity in the hope of getting an equaliser. Switzerland played amazingly well and were not sitting back and holding onto the slender lead that they had. They were looking to get onto the counter-attack on most occasions and almost increased their advantage through Vargas but his goal was ruled out since he was offside in the build-up. In the end, Switzerland were denied a famous win and Germany ended up as group winners with seven points to their name.

What happened in the other game of Group A between Hungary and Scotland?

Tonight's meeting between Scotland and Hungary in Group A was essentially a knockout match, since both teams needed to win to have any hope of moving on to the next round of UEFA Euro 2024. Referee Facundo Tello booked Hungary's Willi Orbán, András Schäfer, and Callum Styles for poor challenges during a hotly contested first half.

Both the teams were looking to break the deadlock and were creating the chances but were lacking the cutting edge. in the 10th minute of the game, Hungary got the winner as Kevin Csoboth dispatched the ball into the back of the net. However, with just three points to their name, it looks highly unlikely that Hungary would be among the four teams out of six that can qualify for the next round.
