David Beckham is on the lookout for the next superstar at Inter Miami, even with the presence of one of the world's biggest names, Lionel Messi, in the squad. Miami is set to begin their new MLS season this weekend, facing off against New York City at Chase Stadium.
As co-owner, Beckham is under significant pressure to build on last season's success with the Supporters' Shield, but the ultimate goal remains clear and that includes securing the franchise's first MLS Cup victory.
To add insult to Beckham's injuries, the current holders of the trophy are his former club, LA Galaxy, where he played for five years after departing from Real Madrid. In recent years, Miami has made major investments as they pursue their dreams, bringing in Messi along with other Catalan stars Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba.
David Beckham to turn Miami into Galacticos
In the new Apple TV+ docuseries, David Beckham openly shares his vision for Inter Miami, showing his commitment to building a competitive team. Rather than becoming complacent with the presence of four iconic Barcelona players, Beckham is actively seeking to enhance the squad further.
His goal has always been to attract top talent to Miami, emphasizing not only the importance of individual stars but also the value of assembling a cohesive team of exceptional players with a varied talent pool.
"You know, my dream was always to bring the best players to Miami. It's not just about bringing the best player there ever was (Messi). We've brought in four superstars in our team." Beckham said.
"Our vision, we wanted to create one of the biggest clubs in the world - and I just think it's good for the sport, I think it's good for the club, I think it's great for the league," Beckham added.
Beckham's Inter Miami co-owner Jorge Mas, is aligned with this vision. He asserted to their MLS competitors, the club will pursue marquee players to establish themselves as a dominant global powerhouse.
"We're building our Galacticos. We always want to have players to attract global attention. I'd like to think that if we're able to seize the moment, we will be successful and people will always look at this and say, 'Hey the guys at Inter Miami changed Major League Soccer to be one of the best leagues in the world," he added.
