The Red Devils midfielder Casemiro has praised several influential coaches from his career, highlighting Carlo Ancelotti, Zinedine Zidane, Jose Mourinho, Tite, and Julian Lopetegui as some of the most impactful gaffers he has worked with. Since joining Manchester United in the summer of 2022 under Erik ten Hag, Casemiro has been impacting until recently. In his debut season, he contributed to the team's successful campaign and helped them secure a third-place finish in the Premier League.
Casemiro scored in the Carabao Cup final that season and quickly established himself as a fan favourite. However, his performance has sharply declined over the past two years, leading to him becoming a peripheral figure under Ruben Amorim. This season is likely to be his last at Manchester United.
Casemiro picked his top 5 managers
At 32 years old, Casemiro is in the twilight of his career, and he struggled to keep up with the intensity of Tottenham's midfielders during his rare league start on Sunday afternoon.
Spanish outlet AS recently interviewed Casemiro, during which he identified the five most influential coaches of his career. Notably, he did not mention either Ten Hag or Amorim.
Casemiro also discussed his departure from Real Madrid, implying that his first season at Manchester United was possibly the best of his career. His contract with United is set to expire in June 2026, with the club holding an option for an additional year.
"Nobody wins so many titles just by being nice, although he is. I have a huge affection for Ancelotti," explained Casemiro. "For me he is in the top three of the coaches I have had, along with Zidane, of course, and Tite, who was the coach of Brazil." Casemiro said.
"I have had others who have left their mark on me, like Mourinho or Lopetegui. But Ancelotti is an old-school coach who didn't stay stuck in the old school. Carlo modernised like football." Casemiro added.
