Benjamin Mendy court case

Benjamin Mendy, a former Manchester City player, testified before an employment tribunal that "several" of his teammates engaged in "casual relations with women" during the parties he threw. He also disclosed that when the team stopped paying him, team members lent him money.

The French international, who reportedly claims to be owed £11.5 million in unpaid pay by the Premier League winners who withheld his money after he was accused with rape and sexual assault, was backed by current and past teammates Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva, and Riyad Mahrez.

The Lorient full-back added, "I struggled to pay my child support, I felt awful. Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva and Riyad Mahrez all lent me money to help me try and pay my legal fees and support my family."

The 2018 World Cup winner said, “Several Manchester City first team players, including the club captain, were all present at the parties that I attended and hosted.  We all drank alcohol. We all had casual relations with women. We all breached Covid-19 restrictions. This does not excuse my behaviour, but I feel that it is unfair for Manchester City to single me out in the way that they have. The difference between me and the other Manchester City players is that I was the one that was falsely accused of rape and publicly humiliated..."

How much money do Manchester City owe Benjamin Mendy?

The club withheld the 30-year-old's £500,000 monthly salary when he faced charges in 2021, the tribunal was informed. The World Cup champion was later exonerated.

Mendy, who currently plays for the French Ligue 2 team Lorient, filed a claim for "unauthorized deductions" from salaries against Manchester City at an employment tribunal. According to his deal, he would also get an annual payment of £1.2 million to his image rights firm, a £900,000 incentive for playing in 60% of games, and a £1 million extra if City made it to the UEFA Champions League.
