Mohamed Salah created one goal and scored his 49th in the Champions League in a 2-0 victory over Italian side Bologna at Anfield on Wednesday, maintaining Arne Slot's team's flawless record with their second win in the competition.

The Tale That Unfolded at Anfield

An electric atmosphere welcomed Slot and his players in their first Anfield game in Europe's top competition after a year away. Slot's men, who had previously defeated AC Milan 3-1 away, did not disappoint, with Alexis Mac Allister scoring in the 11th minute, tapping in Salah's precise cross from close range.

Bologna put up a good fight, and there was a sense of relief at Anfield when Salah scored the winning goal in the 75th minute. Despite Liverpool's overall dominance, Bologna had their opportunities, with 12 shots compared to Liverpool's nine. Dan Ndoye hit the post in the first half, and Alisson had to make a crucial save from Kacper Urbanski's shot.

This victory marked Slot's eighth win in nine games across all competitions since taking over from Juergen Klopp. Liverpool is currently leading the Premier League table by a point, ahead of both Manchester City and Arsenal.

Salah the new King of Africa

Mohamed Salah has secured his place as the top African goal scorer in UEFA Champions League history with his 49th career goal. This surpasses the goal tally of renowned African footballing legends such as Didier Drogba of Ivory Coast, Samuel Eto of Cameroon, and Sadio Mane of Senegal.

Didier Drogba has netted 44 goals with Premier League side Chelsea.

Two consecutive-time Champions League winner Samuel Eto had scored 30 goals in total for Barcelona and Inter-Milan.
