Antonio Conte has apparently agreed to a three-year contract to take control of defending Serie A winners Napoli, more than 14 months after departing Tottenham Hotspur. The Italian has been out of job since leaving his position at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and he recently stated that he rejected proposals from the Saudi Pro League.

He was connected with the Chelsea post, with Italian publications saying that the club had been in touch about their former manager before Mauricio Pochettino's exit. However, Fabrizio Romano reports that Conte has accepted his own terms to take coach at Napoli, who recently had a horrific championship defence in Serie A.

Their reign over Serie A will come to an end in a matter of days, with Inter Milan winning the Scudetto this time by a whopping 19 points over AC Milan. The Italian giants are currently going through three permanent coaches on their journey to placing 10th in Italy's premier division, with current manager Francesco Calzona winning only three of his 16 games.

Calzona, who had never coached a Serie A side before Napoli and is now Slovakia's head coach, succeeded former Watford manager Walter Mazzarri. Rudi Garcia, their last manager, lasted only a few months into the campaign before being fired in November.

“The best possible option is to entertain and win” : Antonio Conte

Antonio Conte spoke about what he desired to achieve with his next club. He said in February 2024 that, "If the final target is to win the league and lift trophies, it's important to offer entertainment to the crowd. But to be only an entertaining team is not enough if you want to win. I know because I coached the top teams and they always asked to win.

The former Tottenham Hotspur manager said, "For me, now it's impossible to work for an only entertainment team, because the expectation is always that you have to win. I love my past, but at the same time the expectation you bring is always very high and if you don't win, you have failed. The best possible option is to entertain and win."
