Tottenham Hotspur played Manchester City at home on Tuesday at the White Hart Lane. The North London side have been inconsistent with form in the season and are currently fighting for a possible place in the UEFA Champions League spot next season. On the other hand City are competing for the title race of the English Premier League with Arsenal. Pep Guardiola’s side started the game in a positive way creating early chances, however Spurs soaked in the pressure and looked good on the counter.

The visitors could have opened the scoring after Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg missed a ball that was sliced and went back to Phil Foden as the winger’s volley was well saved by Guglielmo Vicario to keep the score 0-0. The game was end to end as the North London side was pressing higher up the pitch and creating pressure in the middle of the park.

The Sky Blues pressed and created a beautiful chance in the game but was denied twice by the home side defenders as they made two crucial blocks in the last minute of the 45 with first block made by Micky van de Ven of Foden’s host but the follow up shot of Bernardo Silva was cleared off the line by Radu Dragusin.

The second half began in a similar way with both the goalkeepers having to be busy early-on in the second 45 minutes. Vicario yet again denied City from scoring, this time Kevin de Bruyne’s powerful shot was saved by the Italian. On the counter Spurs hit back after Heung-min Son was saved well by Ederson in the near post. Few minutes later in the 51st minute Erling Haaland who was silent for the first half broke the deadlock.

Spurs tried creating chances and opened up the defence of the visitors. But Son once again failed to score after he was clear on goal and failed to put it past Stefan Ortega. Soon in the counter attack Porro brought down Jeremy Doku inside the box, rewarded with the penalty which was scored by Halaand. The Player of the Match was given to Ortega for his impactful saves in the game as a substitite.
