Chelsea FC have mutually parted ways with manager Mauricio Pochettino with immediate effect on Tuesday. The Blues after having a dismal season overall performed well towards the end of the league phase and qualified for the UEFA Europa League after finishing 6th in the league table.
The Argentine manager made the side perform amazingly in the last couple of months earning a place in the European competition next season. However, the management has decided not to continue with the coach any further in the upcoming season. He guided a young side to the Carabao Cup final and FA Cup semi-finals.
Despite a season largely of struggles, he finished his campaign with five consecutive wins. He had only been at Stamford Bridge for 11 months and was appointed in May 2023 replacing interim manager Frank Lampard. Despite spending an amount of more than £400m on new signings the club could not find the results at the start of the season. The Blues after the departure of Pochettino have been looking for a new manager.
Tuchel or Flick who will take charge at Stamford Bridge?
They have shortlisted some of the names that might be under the radar of the club ahead of the new season to start. Thomas Tuchel and Hansi Flick are the names that are being heard in the market for a possible replacement for the 52-year-old. However, Tuchel has already been at Stamford Bridge before winning the UEFA Champions League in his first season with the club. On the other hand, Hansi Flick who is without a club showed his desire to coach in England.
The former Bayern Munich coach is only the second manager to win the sextuple after Pep Guardiola. He did the impossible with Munich back in the 2019/20 season. The 59-year-old previously was in charge of the German national team, back in 2022. As per the recent developments, both German managers are open to Premier League coaching in the next season, but they are yet to be contacted by the Blues management, as the process for search for a new coach is still in process for the English club.
