The announcement for GTA 6 undoubtedly came as one of the biggest reveals of this decade, with players excited to get their hand on the game in 2025. However, with certain cause for celebration, PC gamers came face to face with a harsh reality of delayed release for their platform, which has been a tradition of titles coming from Rockstar Games.

The official trailer for GTA 6 also mentions both Xbox and PS5 consoles but no PC release. With no official work on PC port, it is safe to assume that players might need to wait till 2026 if they plan on playing the game, else they will need a console for that sweet satisfaction of playing on launch.

Will GTA 6 boost console sales?

The lack of clarity on PC release raises a big question. Will GTA 6 raise the demand for consoles across the globe, especially in India? Will the country see a substantial growth in console ownership, or our fellow gamers or players will sit quietly and wait for PC release?

While most of the gamers outside India have both PC and one of the mainline console, most gamers in India does not have the luxury to buy even a proper PC, let alone a device made specifically for playing video games due to cultural stigma towards gaming.

However, gaming always finds a way and here it came as mobile gaming as the market is dominated by mobile ports of popular like PUBG and CoD. Over the years, PC gaming have also became popular, but not to a point where many people will justify spending over 50,000 on a dedicated gaming machine. A purchase of PC itself is made for multiple purpose including work and school, with gaming being an add-on.

GTA 6 is undoubtedly going to be the biggest release of the decade, but with a release so close, there is not enough time for a complete integration of consoles in the Indian gaming industry. Outside India, the game is likely to dive the console sale if it launches as exclusive, but in India, It is very likely that the majority of the players aiming to play the game will wait till 2026 or PC release.
