The flawless run for Mongolian underdogs and the comeback story for NA CS ends at the Perfect World CS2 Shanghai Major Playoffs. Facing MOUZ and Team Spirit in the quarterfinals, both faced a 0-2 defeat in one of the biggest upsets in the competitive Counter-Strike scene this year, especially for The MongolZ.
MongolZ started off strong with a dominating first half and fans were sure that the team had the game in bad. However, the second half became a complete disaster as the team was being mowed down by Jimpphat and Brollan. There was also a bit of a rush to end the game for MongolZ resulting in them making mistakes like pushing smokes at a disadvantage and more.
The second game on Nuke also saw a similar start, giving players déjà vu from the previous game, and surely enough it came to be true. Another great start only to lose in the second half, it was not the day for MongolZ. However, despite that, the team has made their mark and put Asian Counter-Strike on the board.

No comeback for Team Liquid
Team Liquid in the past few months have displayed incredible progress, however, the team failed everything after coming close to victory. Such was the case in their recent match against Team Spirit after giving them an incredible fight.
The first half across both matches saw the team match each other equally, but Team Liquid always fell short in the second half. This cost the team both their games, leading to an early elimination from the last CS2 Major of 2024.
Both MOUZ and Team Spirit will now be facing each other in the semifinals on December 14. Before that, four other teams will fight for the remaining two spots in the semifinals. G2 Esports will go against Heroic, and FaZe Clan will face Team Vitality.
