The MongolZ are your Thunderpick WC champions (Image - HLTV)
The MongolZ who entered the Thunderpick World Championship 2024 as a fan favorites has now secured the win over HEROIC. In the BO5 grand finals, MongolZ took down one of the best teams at the LAN event, Heroic to take home the championship trophy and $500,000 as the top prize.
That isn’t easy to say they aren’t among one of the best teams, but The MongolZ have yet to write a Counter Strike major to their name. The team has made an incredible return to the competitive CS scene after parting ways with IHC Esports and making a few changes to the roster.
Speaking of the tournament, the Thunderpick WC 2024 also saw incredible love from the community. The $850,000 prize pool was also quite surprising for an A tier event, with the champions taking a massive share.

Another notable thing was the arena, despite being much smaller the matches took place in a soundproof glass dome. The proxy help from the cheering crowd has been a big issue at the CS event that raised many controversies. This was a great measure against that, especially when the fans were this close to the players.

The MongolZ started out strong by taking down HEROIC in their own map pick. However, their opponents weren’t letting the match go easily as they managed to equalize the score in the following game, taking down MongolZ in a swift victory.
The third match saw an intense game, with MongolZ clutching the game before reaching overtime and taking the lead. This lead translated into victory in the following match after a dominating run from the champions, as HEROIC failed to secure a single round after the first two.
