League of Legends and Faker dominate esports
Riot Games once again takes the crown when it comes to esports, as League of Legends takes the crown for best esports game over the likes of Counter Strike and Mobile Legends Bang Bang. This is the sixth consecutive year for the company and the fourth time League has secured the win across the duration.
This doesn’t really come as a surprise, as the game once again broke it’s previous all-time peak viewership in November during the 2024 World Championship. Breaking its previous record of 6.4 million, the game now stands at over 6.9 million and is one of the most watched esports titles.
The fact that fans also got a second season for Arcane this year was another huge boost to the game’s popularity. However, it remains to be seen if Riot Games continue their streak next year with new games entering the esports scene.

Faker ends 2024 as the best eSports Athlete
As for the best Esports athlete, everyone knew it was Faker as soon as his name appeared on the list. Securing both the League of Legends Esports World Cup and Worlds 2024, along with the top three finishes at the Mid-Season Invitational and LCK, Faker clearly overshadows any other players in terms of achievement.
Faker was also the first legend to be inducted into League of Legends: Hall of Legends and get his own signature skin for Ahri. Prior to this, he also won the best esports athlete awards in the esports awards, to which he expressed his thanks for everyone supporting him.
Since League of Legends is a team game, Faker's team, T1, by default, should also be the best team, which is exactly what happened. The entire esports spotlight for 2024 at the game awards was dominated by League of Legends and related teams/players.
