Riot Games has now made some changes to its terms of service (ToS) that tighten the grip on content creators. This comes from a new dev update stating if the content creator/streamer engages in hateful slurs towards others even if they are not in the game, a penalty can be handed to the individual inside Valorant or other games by Riot.
“Our intention with this update is to help protect players from harmful behaviours they can experience across the various places that touch their gaming experience. This update applies very specifically and only to content where Riot's games are the background of the content produced,” the official post wrote.
"Though we aren't going to proactively monitor everything that happens across social media, it is now within our rights to issue penalties in-game when that content is brought to our attention," the statement further added.

This is another measure Riot claims is taken in order to create a positive gaming community, allowing players to have a “safe” space by eliminating toxicity. This new takes effect starting policy takes effect January 3, 2025.
Rules apply to everyone.
Even partnered players are not safe, as the new policy will be in effect for everyone across all games by Riot, especially Valorant and League of Legends. This takes everything to a whole new level and some players are raising concerns about this decision. There are other changes in the mix, but this is by far the most eye-catching.
As expected, the community have a lot to say as this isn’t a small case of in-game moderation but can potentially affect a large number of content creators and streamers. Many believe that Riot Games will not even enforce the rule and the entire idea will be scraped. At the moment, Riot seems to be fully on board with the decision.
