The Faker Hall of Legends signature skin for Ahri have now sold over $600k worth of bundles just from his appearing in a Chinese shopping livestream for an hour. Other pros from the LoL scene like Bin and Elk were also a part of the Douyin stream to promote cosmetics and physical merch for League of Legends later on.

A report from sohu revealed that the Hall of Legends Ahri skin collected more than 4.81 million yuan. The price was a little cheaper. One of the comments explained, “shopping live streams are basically live streams where Chinese companies will advertise their products and sell it at a discounted price”.

It is also reported that even before Faker made an appearance, around 250 bundles were also sold from the stream. With Faker making an appearance, the viewership count for a sales stream reaches over 100,000. As usual, the player showcased the skin and the effects and even said he might consider using it sometime in future, which is quite a shock as he never uses any cosmetics.

A slap to League of Legends fans

This comes as a huge blow to the players who were recently boycotting the $400+ cosmetic bundle, calling it unethical. Players even went on to boycott the skin by banning Ahri across LoL matches. However, during the live stream, all three versions of the bundle were reportedly sold out very quickly due to the popularity of LoL and Faker in China.

Riot Games, responding to the controversy, explained that the bundle is meant for players who like to spend over $200 monthly on their gaming hobbies, which seems to be quite true with the recent sales results. It won’t be long before players will accept the reality and move on to play the game as usual.
