Call of Duty fans are already freeing up space on their PC with the preload for Black Ops 6 coming in a few days. Kuwait, on the other, has put a stop to sales of COD Black Ops 6, just a week ahead of its release. A game which is topping the global charts even before release is simply invisible in Kuwait.

This came after the regulatory authorities did not approve the game for release. Those who already purchased the game will unfortunately have their pre-orders refunded. The news upset a lot of players who were waiting for the game’s release on October 25.

“Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has not been approved for release in Kuwait. At this time, the title will not be available for release in the region. As a result, all pre-orders in Kuwait will be cancelled and refunded to the original point of purchase. We remain hopeful that local authorities will reconsider, and allow players in Kuwait to enjoy this all-new experience in the Black Ops series,” an official statement from Activision revealed.

Why did Kuwait block Call of Duty: Black Ops 6?

The company did not reveal any reason why the sale of Black Ops 6 was denied, however, fans have a general idea. The story for Black Ops 6 revolves heavily around the Gulf War and Saddam Hussein’s invasion of Kuwait in 1990. This can be a sensitive topic and thus, the sale of the game was blocked.

Video games often face scrutiny, especially those which delve into history as entertainment, for one could be a problem for another. Other countries like China and Russia have also previously censored/banned various parts of the COD franchise. In fact, many games often see an alternate edition when released in China.
