The Nintendo Switch 2 is one of the most anticipated pieces of hardware released this year. Complete details on the device are coming on April 2nd during the Nintendo Direct; however, recent Federal Communications Commission (FCC) filings have also revealed some technical upgrades, which surprisingly had many quality-of-life.

Similar to the original device, Switch 2 will also feature NFC support through the right Joy-Con controller; that’s one feature in common. Another feature that won over fans was the backwards compatibility, which during the FCC filing was once again confirmed.

As revealed by The Verge, the game tested was using an HAC game card, which is the cartridge from the original Switch. The device will also use Wi-Fi 6. While not the latest, Nintendo likely went with the most common one that is available globally.

Switch 2 quality of life upgrades also mentioned

The reveal video showcased two USB connectors on the top and bottom of the Nintendo Switch 2. It turns out that users can plug their charger into any of the ports, which removes the hassle of remembering which side is the top and which one’s the bottom. “The EUT is equipped with two rechargeable USB ports (top and bottom side),” the filings said.

Speaking of charging the device, users will get a 15V AC adapter, similar to the original; however, this one can go up to 20V. This could be due to the bigger size and fast charging purposes; regardless, players will be able to get gaming sooner.

Nintendo planning to have broad availability on launch

One of the main concerns people have is the availability of the Nintendo Switch 2. Launch day is expected to have scalpers trying to swoop all online stores and sell them at higher prices. The company promised that they would take measures against it, but the recent AMD and Nvidia GPU launches did not boost the confidence as the cards started to disappear within minutes of launch.
