Popular Counter Strike 2 data miner Aquarius has now revealed that CS2 devs have now made a backup for the current build of the game. These backups allow tournament organizers to event on an older stable version of the game in case the new update brings some major changes or game breaking bugs.
However, for fans, this generally means some big change is coming and once again the speculation for the long awaited CS2 operation are rising. The last operation for CS, ‘Operation Riptide’ came out in September 2021, almost three years ago and players have been starving for another operation.
Do note that there has been no official confirmation for a new operation. Players can simply get new/returning maps or the remaining game modes from CS:GO as part of the new update. Similarly, rumours were also floating during the 25th anniversary of Counter-Strike, but fans were left disappointed.

An update did arrive eventually with multiple community maps added to casual, deathmatch and wingman game modes. However, this did leave a bad taste in people’s mouths who were expecting an operation. That is why until there is an official announcement and teaser from the developers themselves, rumour should be taken with a grain of salt, although, in this case, a backup was made for the game.
New video game by Valve
Another news that has been making rounds is the possibility of a new Half-Life game. This one comes from Gabe Follower, who revealed that a popular voice actor had listed an unannounced game by Valve code-named ‘Project White Sand’ in their portfolio.
While another third-person MOBA game ‘Deadlock’ is already in development, fans believe this one is related to a Half Life as the original game takes place in New Mexico, with speculations going as far as to call this a mainline entry in the Half Life series. Once again, nothing came from Valve and probably won’t until the game is actually ready for a release.
