Intense best-of-five grand finals at ESL Pro League Season 20 have now led NaVi to their third major CS2 championship trophy of 2024. Taking down Eternal Fire once again, NaVi once again proved the doubters wrong after three back-to-back upsets at high-profile events. Once again, the team is back on top of global rankings.
Before the ESL Pro League Season 20, NaVi defeated G2 Esports at the Esports World Cup and FaZe Clan at PGL Major Copenhagen, the first-ever CS2 Major. Along the way, the team did face some road bumps. Their losses at IEM Cologne, IEM Dallas and ESL Pro League Season 19 were among some missed opportunities.
jL secured the tournament MVP with a 1.31 event rating with over 250 kills to his name. Talking about the match with HLTV, jL said, “It feels amazing. It was a tough fight, I for sure expected it to be a different game, I don't think we showed up. But I don't think it's about us not showing up, I think Eternal Fire were super strong and really well-prepared for the game”.

Eternal Fire gave a good fight to NaVi
Eternal Fire, who stood as their opponents, gave them great competition. The team had kept their dominating performance through the tournament and only faced one loss prior to the grand finals. Coincidentally, the previous loss was also against NaVi and the team did miss a huge chance at payback.
Both teams went back and forth with Eternal Fire, shocking everyone with an incredible opening match after defeating NaVi in their own pick. Following another intense game, NaVi did manage to equalize the lead. Following another set of similar performances, both teams landed on a decider match, which NaVi managed to clutch and break their curse of losing the BO5 grand finals.
“I'm very sad. For the first time, I feel like we can win. We played some good CS today. We showed some good things, and some bad things. We fought for every round. It was a really good BO5,” IGL for Eternal Fire, MAJ3R, said.
