G2 Esports’ dream of finally defeating NaVi was once again shattered as the team lost their most recent matchup at the ESL Pro League semifinals. Following an intense best of three with multiple great moments, NaVi clinched victory in the decider map. This defeat ends their run for the championship and adds eight consecutive losses for them against NaVi.

Looking at the track record for G2, many believed this would be an easy win for NaVi which was clear in the opening match as G2 was having a hard time challenging NaVi on equal terms despite being their map pick. The second half saw the team fall apart for an easy victory for NaVi.

The following match, however, saw a comeback that equalized the score and brought the series into the decider. After a decent first half in the final match, G2 fumbled the bag once again as their opponent were not giving them any opening.

Despite not winning the best-of-three, fans got to see m0NESY in action and wished everyone on the team was playing on the same wavelength. jL and b1t also emerged as the most impactful players for NaVi securing over 100 kills combined across all three matches.

Eternal Fire to face the final challenge

The other two teams in the semifinals saw MAJ3R lead Eternal Fire into an easy victory and face their final opponent in the ESL Pro League grand final. Clashing with MIBR, the team barely gave them a chance to stand back.

After securing a dominating victory on their opponent’s map pick, the rest of the match was a walk in the park. 2024 has seen some incredible performances from Eternal Fire with multiple wins to their name, however, their previous two encounters with NaVi did not have a great result. The grand finals will be best-of-five, which can give them a chance to win this time.
